From its origins in horticultural pottery to current day’s much sought-after contemporary tableware collections in glazed stoneware, this ceramicist's experience spans more than 150 years. Wow! This line’s century-and-a-half of knowledge has been passed down the generations, allowing the traditional craft of potters’ skills to remain on full display with these pieces. Because of these pieces’ unique beauty, the ceramic secrets of their forebears have remained closely guarded. This technical excellence has earned these ceramics EPV status (Entreprise Francaise du Patrimoine Vivant (French Companies of Living Heritage).

During the ‘grand feu’ firing of these ceramics at a temperature of 2850 degrees Fahrenheit, the clays that make up each piece’s refined body become vitrified (the state at which the china and glaze melts and fuses together to form non-porous ware) and allows stoneware to reach the status of ‘noble ceramic.' We could list all the reasons why stoneware has been awarded this distinction, but the list would be quite long. Suffice to say that it is unique to this ceramics line. It is without question the most natural and the most resistant ceramic material in the world. Because of this high-temperature vitrification process, this stoneware reminds us how stone was formed many millions of years ago in the spirit of “earth, water, and fire.” As though it were a living thing, stoneware comes from nature and is returned to it.
