Midcentury Vintage Italian Bamboo and Brass Bowl Basket

This low, wide bowl basket comes from Italy in the 1960s and 70s, when designers liked pairing natural materials with polished metal. The bamboo forms a shallow bowl, and brass rim and handles. It feels relaxed and tropical, but the detailing is clearly Italian.
At 14" across and only 4" tall, it works best somewhere it can be seen from above. Use it as a catchall on an entry console, as a centerpiece for fruit or a pile of lemons, or as a bowl on the coffee table for remotes and trinkets. It also looks good set out empty, where its round shape and warm materials can stand on their own.
The brass has a soft, original patina, and the bamboo shows gentle wear consistent with its age.
