Georges Pelletier (1938–2024) was a Belgian-born French ceramist who trained from his teens at the progressive Pioulier School in Vence and later in Paris, where he opened his first studio in 1961. Discovered at the Saint-Ouen flea market, he supplied his lamps to Roche Bobois until 1973, then moved to Cannes and worked there. His ceramics blend sculpture and function: lamps, vases and mirrors with organic, perforated forms that cast intricate shadows, often marked by sun motifs and small gold beads. Signature pieces include the Soleil lamps and many other lamps with perforations that illuminate from above and within to dissipate light in artistic patterns. The Owl lamps were a common motif throught his career. His work entered the Consortium Museum in Dijon after a 2016 exhibition, and it remains highly sought after.

Since his death, his pieces have become even more hard-to-find and collectible. His work has been a constant of Homebody since we opened in 2017 and we are always on the hunt for his pieces on buying trips in Europe. Our owner Dory even had the honor of visiting his rarely seen workshop in Cannes a couple of years before he passed and meeting the master in person. He was a lovely, creative soul!

Wired for the US. Has a socket in the base as well as the top so that light can shine from within through the perforations.
